Great speakers

Review Date: June 1, 2010
Reviewer: Bradley Kraemer,
These speakers sound amazing both for music and for movies. They have very crisp treble and a full, warm midrange. Coupled with the Energy ESW-8HG subwoofer, the bass blended perfectly with the satellites to provide a very well-balanced sound. I'm still testing these speakers during their break-in period, so I've only listened to them at low-moderate volume levels, but I can already tell that when I crank them up I'm going to be blown away. I definitely recommend these to anyone looking for speakers under $1000.

These Energy speakers gave my home great sound for the price. I purchased the matching sub at Costco and combined it with a pioneer reciever and am extremely happy for my results. My entire set up cost me less than $500 and I believe I definitly got the biggest bang for my buck.
Amazing sound!!!!

I do not have too much experience with other systems but i was recently in the market for a new surround sound system and i ran into a great deal with a Klipsh 8" sub and these beutifull speakers so after reading all the reviews here i decided to buy them. I can honestly say its the best money i ever spent on electronics. Theses speakers are simply amazing with mids and highs, you need a good sub for lows, but the sounds quality is just amazing. All of my frainds that come over are blown away by how crisp and clean the sound is.

Pros: Amazing crisp sound, beautifull shiny piano finish, built very sterdy.

Cons: The only one i would syspect is that they are amazing dust catchers and they scratch very easely so you really have to keep them where they dont have a chance of getting nicked. Other then that they are the best speakers i have heard so far.

Other: If you buy these speakers the manufacturer suggest that you play them at lower volumes for about 50 hours before you crank it up. I did that and they work flawlesly at great volumes.
great bang for the buck

Reviewer: H. Duong,
Great speakers, great sound quality, only thing i wish was that the range of the speakers went a little lower than 120hz. At that range, which is somewhat expected for a speaker this size, the sub has to take over a little higher in the sound range than I would prefer. Those with receivers that don't have a lot of xover variation might have some issue if you have to have the sub take over even higher in the range at like 150 hz.

for the price, you won't find a better set though. especially not with HITB types.
These Speakers Stink

I bought Energy 5.0 speakers back in 2000. Those speakers were excellent. Unfortunately two of those have blown over the last 2 years and I recently(Jan 2010) bought the 5.0 system to have two identical speakers to my original system speakers. These speakers are not the same. They are not the same dimensions, they do not have the same characteristics (frequency response), the grills are removable and do not cover the entire front surface (the originals were not removable and covered the entire surface) and of course, the worst part is they sound horrible. I should have known this would be too good to be true but I expected that if Energy was going to continue to sell the Take 5.0 speakers that they would be the same, or better. 2 Giant steps backward. These are made in China, not Canada like the originals, and they come with a manual that looks as though it is a photocopy reprint of the original manual. These are Chinese knockoffs and they stink. Do not waste your money.
