Excellent DVD Player/Excellent Price

Yo-
This is my second Pioneer DV-420V - this time hooked up to my Panasonic 58 inch plasma HDTV.
Setup was a breeze and the manual is clear, easy to read and concise.
The "enhanced Dialog" feature works better than the Panasonic bluray machine it replaced. Clear voices and whisper dialog that you can hear clearly - what a concept!
The price - while not deeply discounted - was almost the best on the Internet (paid a buck and half premium to have the awesome Amazon return policy)
Strongly recommend this player to those in the market for an excellent progressive/upconverting DVD player-eh!
Enjoy. |
Only Plays a Limited # of DVD's - My Old DVD Player MUCH Better

I have rented multiple DVD's from Blockbuster that won't play on this player (some do, some don't). However, they play just fine on my old DVD player - every time.
However, E and B Electronics has a terrible return policy and won't deal with it. On top of that Pioneer is saying that E and B Electronics is not an authorized seller of their products so they don't want to do any warranty work!
Finally, Amazon only allows seller reviews for 90 days so I can't dis them like they need to be dissed.
Be aware, this is a lousy product built by a manufacturer hiding from their own liability. |
If only it lasts

| DVD player works flawlessly. I especially love the enhanced voice feature (enhances dialog over background). I have gone through two Memorex players (one lasted 6 month and the other three months) and one Phillips (less than a year). This one costs more than double, but if it works for a couple years it will be a bargain because it has many more features than the aforementioned. |
Best DVD player with HDMI

| Bought this item November 28, 2009. It really does all it says. It really upconverts and uses HDMI. BluRay does not play regular DVDs worth a darn. So you need a good DVD player to use HDMI and upconvert your older DVDs. This is a high end DVD player without a high end price thanks to BluRay driving down the market. It is a must have. All my movies look awesome on my 42" HD tv. Thanks for a great product Pioneer. Also thanks for not cutting out all the features you have always put in your high end players. |
Does NOT play multi region DVDs as advertized

| This item was advertized as a multi-region player, but it does not do that, so I got a duplicate of my former machine. With shipping and restocking fees, it would have been a waste of time to send it back, so I just have two DVD players now, one of which I did not need. |
